The Pan African Writers’ Symposium is a great interest to Academic and non-fiction authors across the continent. The five previous PAWS were held in South Africa (2010), Zimbabwe (2012), Kenya (2014), Uganda (2016), and Malawi (2018) by the respective Academic and Non-fiction Authors’ Associations.
The Symposium is a landmark event among authors and it brings together academic and non-fiction authors and their associations across the continent, providing a forum where trends and concerns in the book and authorship industry can be discussed. The symposium gives the non-fiction authors’ associations and individuals’ space to learn from each other’s experiences, share how to tackle the challenges, and to gain insights in furthering authors’ rights in their respective countries.
The main goal of the 6th PAWS is to share the lessons and experiences in academic and non-fiction authorship and establish how writing activities relate to entrepreneurship in Africa. It is hoped that lessons from the symposium will help writers realise the fullest benefits out of their trade.
Participants: Authors and prospective authors; publishers, booksellers, book editors, translators and illustrators; academicians, policy makers, researchers, teachers, artists, designers, librarians, and other stakeholders
